The Bayview District is the anchor neighborhood of the southeast sector of the City with a proud tradition of cultural celebration and hard work. Once home to the Naval Shipyard and a bustling bayside waterfront at Hunters Point, the Bayview is seeing new industrial innovation and renewed entrepreneurial spirit from minority-owned businesses (namely cafes, breweries, garden supply outlets). A vibrant majority African American community, many Bayview residents have multigenerational ties to the City rooted in the Great Migration from the South; the neighborhood today boasts a dynamic mix of Asian Pacific Islander and Latinx families as well.
